Financial Analyst resumes in 2026: what gets you screened in (the 5-point short version)
- Open with the scope you modelled: revenue or cost base under management, entities or business units covered, and the cadence you owned (monthly close, quarterly forecast, annual plan). Scale of responsibility is the first calibration a finance manager makes.
- Show modelling depth by name — three-statement models, driver-based forecasting, variance analysis, scenario and sensitivity work, and the accuracy you achieved. 'Held forecast variance within 2.1% across eight quarters' is unusually persuasive.
- Quantify decisions your analysis changed: a pricing move, a cost programme, a capex approval, a contract renegotiation. Finance resumes that describe reporting cadence read as administrative; ones that describe decisions read as commercial.
- Name the systems: Excel to a genuinely advanced level, then the ERP (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics), the planning tool (Anaplan, Adaptive, Pigment), and SQL or Power BI. SQL on a financial analyst CV is still a visible differentiator.
- State the technical foundation where relevant — CFA level, CPA, ACCA, or a finance degree — and any GAAP/IFRS reporting exposure. For FP&A roles, add business-partnering evidence: the stakeholders you supported and what they now do differently.
