  2. Never repeat a verb inside one role, and never open three consecutive bullets with the same one. Repetition is the fastest way a resume reads as generic even when the content is strong.
  3. Prefer specific verbs over inflated ones. 'Migrated', 'negotiated', 'instrumented' and 'reconciled' tell a reader what happened; 'spearheaded', 'orchestrated' and 'leveraged' tell them nothing and are heavily overused.
  4. Match the verb to the function's own vocabulary: engineering builds, ships and refactors; finance reconciles, forecasts and audits; sales sources, negotiates and closes. Cross-domain verbs read as an outsider's summary.
  5. Put the verb first and the context last. ATS keyword extraction and human skim-reading both weight the opening of each line, so a bullet that starts with 'Responsible for' wastes its most valuable position.
