Solutions Architect Job Description & Resume Guide

Solutions architects design technical solutions for customers and work closely with sales and delivery. The role requires broad technical knowledge and the ability to translate requirements into architectures. This guide covers typical job requirements and resume keywords.

60-second answerUpdated September 2026
Solutions Architect resumes in 2026: what gets you screened in (the 5-point short version)
  1. State the deal context you operate in: pre-sales or delivery, average deal size, sales cycle length, and whether you carry a technical-win number. Solutions architecture splits sharply along this line and the whole resume reads differently depending on it.
  2. Name the platforms and your certification level — AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Google Professional Cloud Architect. These are hard filters on most SA requisitions and cannot be implied.
  3. Show architecture artefacts you personally produced: reference architectures, well-architected reviews, migration assessments, proofs of concept, RFP responses. Attach outcomes — 'PoC converted a $1.4M ACV migration in six weeks'.
  4. Prove you translate between audiences. One line for the CTO conversation, one for the platform team. The differentiating SA skill is holding a whiteboard with executives and a terminal with engineers on the same day, and the resume should demonstrate both.
  5. Include integration and migration depth — identity federation, networking and hybrid connectivity, data migration strategy, and the compliance regime you designed under (SOC 2, HIPAA, FedRAMP, PCI DSS). This is where enterprise deals are actually won or lost.
