  1. Rename each event or opening as a project with its constraints: 'Coordinated annual conference' becomes 'Delivered a $480K, 1,200-attendee conference across 14 vendors on a 5-month timeline; finished 3% under budget with a 4.6/5 attendee rating.' Budget, stakeholders, timeline and result is the PM shape.
  2. Seed the summary with the words an ATS will match: 'Hospitality operations manager moving into project management: scope, schedule and budget control, vendor management, risk mitigation and stakeholder communication across 60+ events a year.' Scope, risk and schedule rarely appear on hospitality resumes.
  3. Add CAPM, which needs 23 hours of project management education rather than project experience, or PMP if you can document enough project leadership, plus the Google Project Management Certificate. Name a tool you can use, such as Asana, Monday.com, Smartsheet or MS Project, since hospitality rarely shows one.
  4. Report the numbers hospitality already tracks in project terms: budget variance, on-time delivery, vendor count, RevPAR or GOP after an opening, guest satisfaction or NPS, and repeat-booking rate. A hotel pre-opening or renovation you worked on deserves its own bullet with dates, budget and team size.
  5. Include one recovery story with numbers: a vendor cancelling 48 hours out, a flooded venue, a late 30% jump in headcount, and how you re-planned. PM interviewers probe issue and change management, and hospitality produces more of these real-time recoveries than most backgrounds.
