Financial Analyst resume skills in 2026: what gets you screened in (the 5-point short version)
  1. Show modelling depth explicitly: three-statement models, DCF, scenario and sensitivity analysis, and driver-based forecasting. 'Financial modelling' as a bare phrase is the most-ignored line on these resumes.
  2. Name the systems: Excel at an advanced level, plus the planning tool (Anaplan, Adaptive Insights, Pigment, Hyperion) and the source of truth (SAP, NetSuite, Oracle) you pulled from.
  3. Quantify forecast accuracy and variance. 'Reduced quarterly forecast variance from 9% to 3%' is the most credible thing an FP&A candidate can put on a page.
  4. State whose business you partnered with — sales, marketing, operations, R&D — and what decision your analysis changed. Business partnering is the differentiator between analyst and manager tracks.
  5. Add SQL and a BI tool if you have them. FP&A teams in 2026 increasingly expect analysts to pull their own data rather than queue behind an analytics team, and it is a genuine salary premium.
